Mercantile Table Tennis Association of Sri Lanka Holds its 64th Annual General Meeting

The Mercantile Table Tennis Association of Sri Lanka (MTTA) held its 64th Annual General Meeting (AGM) on March 07th, 2023 at the SSC – Singhalese Sports Club, Colombo 00700. The MTTA, founded in 1957, has a prestigious history of over 60 years in promoting and developing table tennis in Sri Lanka.

The AGM saw the appointment of a new committee to lead the organization, with Chanaka Perera, Director & CEO of fillorie (Pvt) Ltd, being appointed as President, Ms. Manori Bandara, Senior Manager HR & Talent Development of Hutchison Telecommunications Lanka as Secretary, and Mr. Kasun Punchihewa, Assistant Manager Supply Chain of Millennium IT ESP as Treasurer.

In his inaugural speech, the newly appointed President, Chanaka Perera, emphasized the rich history of the MTTA and the significant role it has played in promoting and developing table tennis in Sri Lanka. He reminded the members that they stand on the shoulders of giants and that it is their duty to carry forward the legacy of those who have come before them.

The President also thanked Mr. Eric Motha, Mr. Susil Ramanayake, Mr. M.R. Jabir, Mr. Rajiv Wijetunge, Mr. Ajith Gamage, and Mr. Gamunu Prabath for their continuous support and guidance.

With this year’s AGM, the MTTA aims to continue its efforts in promoting the sport of table tennis in Sri Lanka and providing a platform for aspiring players to showcase their skills. The newly appointed committee is committed to taking the MTTA to new heights and ensuring that it remains at the forefront of promoting and developing table tennis in Sri Lanka.
