Article on Sri Lanka Cricket website claiming World Cup qualifier game against Namibia as a ‘Cakewalk‘ stirred some debates in social media. Namibia fans and officials felt the comment degraded them and wants the team to get motivated out of it to do well against Sri Lanka on the clash on the 18th October.
Sri Lanka cricket published an article today, in which they wrote “The Lankans will be in the thick of the decisive must win qualifying demands when the imaginative all-round skipper Dasun Shanaka leads a blend of a new look cast. In that make or break stepping where the top two from each of the two groups would go through, Sri Lanka will face Nambia on October 18 which on paper looks a cakewalk for the former world champs though in the next on the 20th against Ireland, they will face an acid test.”
Experts thought the above comment on Namibia on the official website was demeaning and some went on to say that Namibia coach should display this comment for every player to see and get motivated out of it.
A Sri Lanka Cricket official said that the above article is an opinion piece written by a journalist and not an official statement from Sri Lanka Cricket.
This as per official Sri Lanka Cricket Board website press release should be enough to motivate @gerharderasmus , @albiemorkel , @PierredeBruyn2 and the rest of Namibia squad for #T20WorldCup. pic.twitter.com/nCY1cRM0vZ

Wow that’s poor. The official release on Sri Lanka Cricket’s website laughs off the challenge they will face from “Nambia”
No doubt coach Pierre will have this printed out and on display for every player to see in the build-up… https://t.co/brvWVsZojc

Wow ….. no player will think that I am sure. Each team in this group can turn each other over.
