England’s World T20& Ashes campaign has been dealt a significant blow months before the first ball is bowled, with Jofra Archer to be sidelined for the remainder of the year due to his injured right elbow.
The England and Wales Cricket Board confirmed the news on Thursday, after the fast bowler underwent further scans on his elbow last week.
It will see Archer miss the current five Test series against India, the ICC T20 World Cup in October and November, and the Vodafone Ashes, which are scheduled to begin in Brisbane on December 8.Those scans revealed a recurrence of a stress fracture in the joint.
