Named as ‘The Gentleman’s Game’, cricket has set some standards over the years. Joe Root‘s Yorkshire team showed sportsman spirit of the highest level during a game in the ongoing T20 Blast.

The team refused to run out an opposition batsman after he suffered an injury while claiming a run. The incident, which occurred in the 18th over of the fixture, saw Steven Croft collapse while taking a run due to a bout of cramps.

The batsman on strike, Luke Wells pushed the ball down the ground for a quick single. Croft, at the non-striker’s end, was not convinced of the call, but still set off to reach the other crease.

Yorkshire wicketkeeper had already received the ball from the fielder, but instead of running the batsman out, he threw the ball away. The team then proceeded to signal the umpire to halt the play which led to the medical team’s arrival and the subsequent treatment on the pitch.
