SLC’s medical committee chairman Professor Arjuna De Silva has said that he’s angry and at the same time sad at the recent behavior of Sri Lanka cricketers on tour in England.
Wicket keeper batsman Niroshan Dickwella, batsmen Dhanushka Gunathilaka and Kusal Mendis were recalled to Sri Lanka after a video of the trio roaming in streets of Durham on Sunday night was posted on Social media.
Prof. De Silva said that players were not restricted to their rooms but had the option of going out of their rooms just outside their hotel when nobody was around, in the early morning and late evening. However, they were clearly and strictly advised not to go to the city.
He also revealed that they were sent to UK on a chartered flight, spending over Rs. 69 million, considering their safety. The team was also inoculated on priority, even before the Indian team was vaccinated.
All three cricketers were suspended immediately following the revelation of bio-bubble breach and arrived to the country earlier today (29). SLC announced that upon arrival, they were sent to quarantine in a hotel Negombo.
