Cricket Scotland jokingly apologised on Monday after Bangladesh captain Mahmadullah was interrupted by the Scottish players belting out a rather loud rendition of their national anthem. Mahmadullah had to stop while answering a Bangladeshi journalist.

“Sorry we will keep it down next time,” said Cricket Scotland in its tweet with a video of the incident.

Bangladesh were stunned by Scotland in their opening match of the 2021 T20 World Cup on Sunday. Captain Kyle Coetzer had said after the match that they will be singing the national anthem once the players get back in the dressing room before having a de-brief the next day.

Chasing 141 for victory, Scotland stopped Bangladesh at 134 for 7 to register their first ever win against a Test playing nation in a major ICC tournament.

While it may have been a low target, Scotland did well to reach 140/9 as they were 53/6 in the 12th over. Chris Greaves and Mark Watt put up a partnership of 51 off 34 balls for the seventh wicket which brought Scotland back into the game. Greaves, who scored 45 off 28 balls, went on to take two wickets as well.
