Popular cricket website ESPNcricinfo has picked its World Test Championship team based on performance by individual players from teams which took part in the inaugural WTC tournament.
The start studded team is captained by WTC winning captain Kane Williamson. This team also has 3 New Zealanders, 3 Indians and 3 Australians.
Sri Lanka captain Dimuth Karunaratna has been named as an opener along with India’s Rohit Sharma. Dimuth has averaged 55 with the bat throughout the tournament. The team also consists of Ben Stokes as the only Englishman in the XI.
No player from South Africa, Pakistan, West Indies or Bangladesh made it to ESPNCricinfo’s WTC test team.
