It is understood that the UK government has granted permission for Durham, Bristol, The Oval and Edgbaston to host at least 50% capacity crowds during England’s upcoming ODI series against Sri Lanka and Pakistan.

The UK extended its current Covid-19 protocols until 19th of July, which raised concerns that grounds would be permitted to admit only 25% of their capacities.

However, it was announced today that 50% of capacity will be allowed.

This is part of UK governments pilot project in allowing crowds to sporting events with COVID-19 protocols in place, which started off with the 2nd Test match between England and New Zealand at Edgbaston, which saw an attendance of over 17,000 fans.

The 3rd T20I between Sri Lanka & England at the Ageas Bowl on 26th June is not part of the pilot project, however the two T20I matches in Wales (23rd and 24th June) are subject to separate discussion with the Welsh Government.

SL v Eng ODI venues where 50% capacity will be allowed:

Emirates Riverside (June 29)

The Kia Oval (July 1)

Bristol (July 4)

All above matches and the England vs Pakistan ODIs are sold out as of now.
