Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) has suggested a change of ‘icon players’ for few franchises in this year’s Lanka Premier League (LPL) tournament.

The details were published in a draft guidelines released to franchise owners by SLC.

Major change seen in the icon players this time around is that National ODI and T20I captain Kusal Perera has been suggested a move from Kandy Tuskers to Colombo Kings.

All-rounder Wanindu Hasaranga has been named as the icon player for Jaffna stallions franchise instead of previous year’s skipper, Thisara Perera who announced his retirement from international cricket recently.

SLC has however said that above icon player conditions are subject to change, if required.

Each squad in this year’s tournament will consist of 14 Local and 6 Overseas Players. If necessary, a team can retain 04 players (02 local and 02 overseas) from the previous year’s squad, whilst the rest will have to be picked from the upcoming ‘Player Draft.’
