During the 2019 World Cup match between Pakistan and Australia, in the 37th over of Australia’s innings, Wahab Riaz created a chance with a short ball to David Warner who played it uppishly towards third-man, where Asif Ali was stationed. Instead of grabbing the opportunity, Asif fluffed – much to the dismay of his teammates and the hundred nets Pakistan fans in the stands.

One of those fans was Sareem Akhtar. He was captured on camera reacting to the dropped catch. His angry yet hilarious image went viral immediately as people started creating GIFs of his reaction.

Even the ICC‘s Twitter handle didn’t miss the opportunity to join in on the fun and trolled the fan in a lighter way. ICC’s Digital Insider for the tournament Zainab Abbas later managed to get an interview of Sareem and asked him about the reaction which went viral on social media in minutes.

He then explained that he was expecting the catch at third man to be taken and was frustrated at it being dropped. “I could see it land in his hands and then he dropped it. It was really disappointing to see it happen just in front of me and I couldn’t say anything” Sareem who is a London resident, said.
