Rob Lewis, the cricket fan who became popular for being the only England supporter during England’s tour of Sri Lanka, has finally left the country after an unexpected 14-month stay in the Island.

37-year old Rob Lewis also known as DJ Randy Caddick, arrived in Sri Lanka in March last year to support his team, found out that England’s tour had been called off because of the coronavirus pandemic.

Instead of heading home, Rob decided to stay back. He was finally rewarded for his persistence when the postponed Test matches were resumed in Galle in January earlier this year.

He was not allowed in to the ground due to Covid protocols, but he resorted to watch the matches and support his team from the 16th-century Galle Fort.

His show of extreme loyalty earned him praise from the England captain Joe Root, who called him up to thank him for the backing.

Now, after 14 months of what was supposed to be a four-week trip, Lewis finally left to the UK on Wednesday, on time to continue his support for England Cricket team during their home summer of international cricket.
