Leading from the front today against Bangladesh, fighting to avoid a whitewash, Sri Lanka’s skipper Kusal Perera upped his game to score a brilliant 120 off just 122 balls.

Kusal’s century gave his team’s middle and lower order to work on setting a challenging target for Bangladesh with just over 10 overs to go.

Sri Lanka managed to get to 286 in their 50 overs, adding 80 off the 10.4 overs after Perera was dismissed, thanks to a well compiled 55* from Dhananjaya de Silva

Kusal showed perfect example today for the phrase “Fortune favors the Brave”. He was dropped on three occasions today on his way to his century, last when he was on 99. Perera was in a different mood, showing his intent to be aggressive from the beginning.

It took a stunning catch from the same man, Mahmudullah who dropped a sitter when Perera was on 99 to end his innings.

The SL skipper earlier combined with Dhanushka Gunathilaka in a quick fire opening stand of 82 off just 11.2 overs to give the team much needed momentum.
