Re-elected Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) President Shammi Silva says that India agreed to play additional matches during a tour to Sri Lanka in July, to help overcome SLC’s losses from the Covid Pandemic.

Initially, India were to play 3-T20Is in Sri Lanka in July, but later added 3 One Day Internationals as well.

“India have agreed to double the number of matches in their upcoming tour to Sri Lanka. This means we will get more revenue from television rights” Shammi Silva said.

He also added that the board will request other visiting teams also to play extra games in order to increase television revenue.

Sri Lanka are scheduled to host South Africa in August and Scotland in September. They are also scheduled to host Afghanistan in November, after the team returns from the T20 World Cup in India.
