After Mahela, now Sanga also gets a role in ‘The Hundred’

Former Sri Lanka Cricket captain Kumar Sangakkara has been named in the commentary panel for “The Hundred”, ECB’s latest franchise Cricket competition.

SkySports, the official broadcaster for the tournament has issued a list of current and former players who will be part of the commentary team, including Andrew Flintoff, Kevin Pietersen, Wasim Akram, Dinesh Karthik, Stuart Broad, Daren Sammy and Kumar Sangakkara.

’The Hundred’, the latest ‘100-ball’ format introduced by the ECB was to be played last year, but got postponed due to the Covid 19 pandemic. It is now rescheduled to begin on the 22nd July this year.

It was earlier announced that Sri Lanka legend and former captain Mahela Jayawardena will also be part of ‘The Hundred’ tournament as coach of the men’s team of the franchise ‘Southern Brave’.

Mahela is already a most sought after coach in franchises around the world after his success with the IPL team Mumbai Indians. Sangakkara, who last had an assignment with the IPL franchise  Rajasthan Royals as director of Cricket will now take part of cricket’s newest format as a commentator.
