It has been reported that two cricketers from the 28-member provisional Sri Lanka pool for the T20I and ODI series in England have been tested positive for COVID-19.

Dananjaya Lakshan and Ishan Jayaratne are the players who tested positive on Saturday after an antigen test was carried out prior to administering the first dose of the Covid 19 vaccine.

Management Committee Member of Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) Ashley de Silva said that around 40 national cricketers received their first jabs on Saturday at the National Blood Bank. They were all subjected to an antigen test, prior to administrating vaccine.

De Silva said that the two players who returned a positive result have been moved to a separate location where they will undergo a 14 day quarantine.

He also added that they were not part of the 18-member squad named for the Bangladesh tour, for which the team is scheduled to depart to Bangladesh on the 16 of May. The squad to Bangladesh will go into a bio-bubble today prior to their departure. Sri Lanka will play 3 ODIs in Dhaka beginning 23rd of May.
